With cities contributing disproportionatly to global carbon emissions, urban design is increasingly important when planning for climate change. This discussion examines the social, political and economic impacts of creative urban design solutions coming out of the world's cities.

TALKING TO STRANGERS


The Whitechapel has an exhibition on the work of Sophie Calle - "Upstairs Galleries 8 and 9 are taken up with various smaller-scale projects, all of which are captivating in their own way. There's one where Calle follows the instructions of author Paul Auster by giving out sandwiches and cigarettes on the streets of New York City. It's an intriguing look at human nature, but occasionally drifts towards Amélie-style whimsy-overdose. " Unfinished is particularly interesting work in relation to money and attitudes to money - the artist asks questions people using ATM machines - the project film shows over a decade of 'failed' projects trying to delineate a value to money...
